Stories are a summery of a series of events, it makes you think and feel when they are told in the right way, and that is what Cat & I embark on making it happen with Huckleberry Land.
Coming fresh from our own wedding in early Fall 2016, we believe your wedding should be, well… your wedding! No one should just tell you flat out what you should do when you are looking to piece your wedding together, and it is very important that you are able to find pieces that understands the two of you and simply allow the two of you to just simply be you. Hence, our approach is based on one word, friendship. We want to make it fun for you when working with us, as if you are hanging out with your friends, because that’s when you are truly yourself! We would love to sit down with you and really get to know you, because this is an important chapter in your lives, we want to be able to tell your story according to who you are, not us.
We are Roy & Cat! Two very different, but yet very similar people. We came from two cities in Asia that are is about 250KM from each other, yet we meet in Vancouver some 9600Km from where we were born. We share the same passion about Life; to embrace every moment of our lives and capturing stories that matters. Whereas I am one to tell a story through photographs, Cat creates them.
Now living in the Pacific Northwest, we have found our home in which we are in an environment that have enabled us to do what each of us loves to do, and doing them together!
Meet Cat! She is not only my inspiration, she is also my drawing board for all my crazy ideas. Whenever I came up with a thought, she would either find a way to make it happen, or give me inspirations to make it possible. Cat can be very shy when meeting someone new, but once you get familiar to her, she is all love and caring toward her friends. There is nothing fake about her, just genuine love and kindness toward all her friends that even I would feel jealous about.
Noting is a waste in Cat’s eyes. Her hands are like that of King Midas of the Greek Mythology, but instead of turning things to Gold, she turns scraps and waste into things that are of use in our daily lives. As evidenced with our wedding, where it’s normally a stressful job for the DIY brides and the grooms to go through, Cat sees it as her giant play pan where she could spend countless hours researching and creating anything from our decors to our wedding favours.
Cat has the purest heart that you will ever meet. She is literally, what you see is what you get type of girl. What matters to you will also matter to her because that’s just who she is.
Hi! I’m Roy! I have always had an intense interest with photography & media since I was a kid, but I have been blessed that I am able to be working around the thing I love throughout the various stages of my life even when you least expect it. God just seems to always have a plan that you can’t say no to.
I never really understood what is it about photography that it seemingly have always held a dear place in my heart, I just simply enjoy taking images, and capture different moments in time that by itself could be used to tell a story. But my belief in Christianity have allowed me to slowly rediscover, through trial and error, who I am, and who God had created me to be. As such, the importance for me to capture images that tells a story makes so much sense, because they are a display of emotions and relationships among all things created by God.
Which… explains so much about why one of my favourite thing to do is to get out to the out doors and stand in awe of the marvellous scenic views that the Pacific Northwest have to offer; and also the fact that I enjoy building relationships with the people around me, sometimes just simply hanging out with friends feels like rejuvenation to my soul.
Huckleberry Land is a place for Cat & I to blog those stories that we encounter along the way in our lives; the people we meet, the things we experienced, and the adventures we endeavored. It is our scribble board, our mind palace, our central database. It is who we are and what we are about. Living in the moment.
